Everyone’s getting into the spirit of Christmas, decorations are up, the fun has most definitely begun and we’re all looking out for the perfect gift for friends and loves ones. For Secret Santa giving, our neighbourly gang like to make it compulsory to do one anothers gifting at local charity shops. We set a £10 budget and with some good routing around you can find some really unique items. There’s always plenty of glassware, interesting objects and pictures, even if you don’t use the picture you can print a good time memory for a more personalised pressie. I found a framed vintage Vogue cover last year, the hunt will soon be on for this year’s festive lunch exchange.
If you’re heading over to visit friends or family instead of taking a bottle of wine, what about a Christmas poinsettia instead? I got this idea from my mum, she always took them to Christmas parties when we were little. Seasonal flowers are a great alternative to booze and they last for ages. You can usually pick them up in the supermarkets for less than £10.
If you’re buying for couples and looking for some home gift ideas check out my list below. Cool stuff for any home that will get plenty of use and better than soap on a rope!
For evenings of entertaining, I love the Marcel Wanders cocktail shaker. With one of these babies knocking around, I might actually get round to mastering my favourite Expresso Martini cocktail. Navy blue is stylish, timeless and super chic. In fact, I think it’s actually impossible for navy velvet to look cheap? Anyway, that cushion is lux love and the textured vase is a must for homes of a light or dark persuasion. The marble cheeseboard from John Lewis is the grand fromage and will look super stylish when you whip out the after dinner selection and accompanying chutney jam. As for the coasters, £4 each? For marble?.. Get in there I say.
Alternative or bold lighting is right up my street so the cinematic lightbox will provide loads of fun with changeable letters, you could have it in the kitchen for parties “get drinks here’ or party starts at 9!
Home scent is a must all year round but for Christmas, my favourite has to be the cinnamon and clove festive spice from the White Company’s Winter scent, candles at twice the price don’t smell this good!
Animal print is a must and my go to pattern of choice so the soap dispenser from House of Hackney was an easy one. I just need some brass taps to go with it…
Anyway, here they are folks, hope you like and maybe find something for someone you love – enjoy. Rx
